The Cat’s Pajamas
Friday, June 1st, 2007 at 4:43 pmIt was just brought to my attention that I was nominated this year for a Satin Pajama Award in the category of “Best Southeastern Weblog” by Michael Manske, who writes a blog from his experiences in Slovenia. I don’t know Michael, nor have we spoken but I owe him thanks for getting my name on the list.
Unfortunatley, the voting has already closed for this years awards but even without the knowledge or opportunity to rally support, I took 3% of the votes. Yea, i know, 3% isn’t much (14 people?) but I’m actually tickled to have any audience that extends beyond my closest friends and family.

Hello - I actually came upon your blog from the nominations there, just a little while ago, and have added your feed as I’ve liked what I’ve seen - I’m sure you’ve a few other new readers as well from being listed there!

I thought you were maybe boycotting the elections or something.
I should add that the southeastern category was one of the most fiercely fought categories of them all — probably the fiercest. This has usually been the case. I know, I know: who could imagine that the Balkan category would stir up so many passions? Impossible, right?
At any rate, I’ve been quietly following your blog for a while now, and have to say that I really enjoy it and had no hesitations nominating it. Hope it managed to bring you some new readers as well!

Thanks both. I imagine that Bulgaria and Romania in particular are much more on the radar in terms potential for interesting content since they are both new EU member states. It’s easy to feel like we’re in a bubble over here, which to a large extent is true, but alot more people are looking into the bubble.
