I saw SiCKO

Sicko Michael Moore,

I watched Michael Moore’s new film SiCKO on Friday on a DVD a co-worker gave to me. It was an extremely powerful film, and definitely the best from Moore so far. It should terrify every American, regardless of your income or whether or not you have insurance because it illustrates a system which is broken for EVERYONE. There are moments so sad and disturbing in the film, it nearly brought me to tears.
In the end, I think it made a pretty good case for socialized medicine like that which is enjoyed in most of Europe and Canada, and also pointed out some of the demons and motives behind our current disastrous situation. As an ex-pat from the USA, this is the kind of film that makes me question why I’d ever want to go home when something as fundamental as my health could be so threatened with no solution really in sight.

I haven’t seen this yet, but I am looking forward to it. Healthcare is one of the the factors which has led me to say I would never live in the US, and when my husband was offered a job paying much more than his current one, but in San Diego, we refused based primarily on the healthcare issue.
It is one thing which I value so much about Canada (as broken as our own system is) which I couldn’t give up with children. I like the security it gives.
